On the Side of Weims

Did you know?

· The Weimaraner dates back to the early 19th century in Germany.

· Obedience trials incited the first interest in the Weimaraner in the United States. This was even before the breed was recognized by the AKC in 1943.

· The Weimaraner has seen more actual competition of various types in the United States than it did in all its decades in Germany.

Welcome to the Delaware Valley Weimaraner Club(DVWC)web

site. (For the latest info also visit our Facebook linkfacebook page )

The DVWC is an American Kennel Club (AKC) recognized breed club and a member club of the Weimaraner Club of America (WCA). The Club was founded over 50 years ago, incorporated in 1972, and operates in the Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, and Southeastern Pennsylvania area.  DVWC members that breed Weimaraners abide by the WCA Breeders Code of Ethics and all members uphold standards of good sportsmanship. The objectives of the Club are: to advance the Weimaraner breed; to promote responsible Weimaraner ownership;  to host events that are open to both club members and non-members alike; to share our passion; and to just plain have fun! Each year, our Club holds field, show, and social events locally.  Because of the exciting versatility of our breed, we have sponsored seminars in Obedience, Agility, and Tracking. We also annually provide awards to recognize the achievements of our members and their dogs, some of which, in addition to show, field and performance events, perform Therapy Dog work and Children's Reading Assistance work by volunteering at local retirement homes and libraries.

Our membership includes Weimaraner lovers from New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and as far away as Colorado.

DVWC Mission:

The Mission of the Delaware Valley Weimaraner Club, (DVWC), and its members is the advancement of the Weimaraner breed though careful breeding to assure the integrity and standards of conformation and temperament, and the promotion of our breed in conformation, agility, obedience, hunting, tracking, therapy dogs, and good citizenship.
